Nigeria's rainy season runs April through October with heaviest rainfall in June and July. A little preparation now saves costly emergency repairs later.

    Roof inspection

Loose or missing roof sheets, cracked ridge caps, and rusted screws are the main culprits for leaks. A professional roofer can spot problems invisible from the ground and seal them before the season peaks.

    Gutter and drainage clearing

Blocked gutters overflow into walls and foundations. Clear leaves and debris, and check that downpipes discharge well away from the building. If your compound floods, a drainage specialist can grade the soil or install a soakaway.

    Plumbing check

Heavy rain can expose slow drains and back-flow problems that barely show in dry season. Get your bathrooms and kitchen drains checked now.

    Exterior painting and waterproofing

Peeling paint lets water into walls. Waterproof paint or sealant on exterior surfaces adds years of protection. The dry weeks just before rainy season are the ideal window for this job.

    Generator and electrical

NEPA outages spike in bad weather. Have your generator serviced and any exposed outdoor wiring inspected. Water and electricity are a deadly combination.
